Hi,

I have just fitted a new master cylinder, after the clutch was wining and a very low biting point and grinding noise on the pedal when pressed.

After fitting and bleeding the system, the same issues have stayed except the grinding noise on the pedal, and is quite hard to engage first gear.

So anybody have any ideas? or can point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Rob

If you have bleed the system and got all the air out, it can be a bit of a pain. Then it has to be a problem with the slave/thrust bearing or clutch plate either way it does sound like it will be a gearbox out and full clutch replacement.

Thanks for the response

The clutch was changed by the last owner about 10,000 miles ago, but the master cylinder was the original, so I'm now starting to think has the slave been changed as well. I have been quoted to do a full clutch with LR parts at £550. So might have to bite the bullet.

@jamesmartin:
The grinding was due to the piston on the pedal had slightly bent causing the piston to rub and has gouged the internal bar.

if slave isnt leaking then unlikely to be that as is a concentric type ,if it dont clear properly either not fully bled or clutch diaphragm warped
