Hi,

I have got ATF (red) like a slow bleeding from the guts, dripping from the gearbox, it seems to have got worse over recent months since nearly everything leaks on my LR90.

Doesn't seem to be running out from the bell housing bottom bolt hole, no that's more like engine oil, but could be a mixture with ATF, but hard to tell where the gearbox is leaking, as I'll clean it off then check it after driving, the underside of the box IMG_20230825_190517.jpg is usually wet again.

Can I replace the rear output shaft seal without dismounting the transfer case? Just accessing it through the open port after removing the p.t.o. plate and gear off the shaft?

Or is it transfer box off, to replace the rear seal? I guess the gearbox must be dismounted from the bell housing in order to access the front seal if it's that on that needs replacing..

I guessed that I may have to look at replacing the gearbox sooner or later, as I've been warned that a disco 300tdi engine tends to "finish off" an old LT77.

Tfer box out, Iirc you have to remove the seal land then remove the seal, the seal land works on both gbox output and tfer input seal.
See item 13 the seal land.
Edit I am talking shti looks like land can stay in place during seal replacement.
