I have a D2 with twin LPG tanks in place of the petrol tank, at the moment the tanks are hard plumbed all the way up to the engine bay. My question is, does it have to be hard plumbed or could it be done in the rubber pipe used in the engine bay. The reason I ask is, I have to remove the tanks, and the way the pipes are routed they will almost definitely be damaged when I remove them.

It's now Sunday morning and I have no LPG tanks and no petrol tank in the car, it also has no road tax or MOT. I need to do some work on the chassis, that's the reason for removing the fuel system. I live in a small town in mid Wales and professionals of any kind are hard to find. Once the chassis work is complete I intend to re-install both fuel systems, get an MOT and get the LPG system set up correctly, but I need to know what pipe I can use, if I have to use solid I'll have to get some pipe and a flaring tool, if I can use hose I'll have to get the hose and fittings.

I would sat that it has to be solid pipe . I think the rubber pipe under the bonnet only carries gas rather than liquid.
Get some pipe off ebay and some fittings an a flaring tool (handy for making brake pipes later) not difficult, gheck for leks with soapy water then take it to be checked when you are mobile.
Did mine, hooked it up to a propane bottle from fork lift truck as I got it cheap, no problems.
