Never had/have the need to use Low Ratio or Diff Lock on the mighty Defender 90 :) but is there any maintenance that I should do to keep all working? hate to drop into low and be stuck in there etc. All oils changed regularly and everything is tickety boo at the moment. Just a general question.

change oils in the boxes as you do. To keep mine all moving every now and then In slow traffic or when parked up I just pop it in and out of diff lock a few times and select high and low etc. with lack of use it will seize up over time have a disco bought second hand previous owner used it as motorway mile muncher so never used diff or low when we come to use it, it went in ok but was a royal pain to get back out of diff lock brute force and swearing done the trick now we just do the same as my defender and seems to keep it hassle free.

As Richard says - pop it in and out a couple of times a month to keep linkage loose, and lube the linkage when doing the 6 monthly oils service

Defiantly +1 on this

Putting it into low a few times a month should keep it working smoothly as it does get stiff if not moved a lot.
Would think it to be a good idea to lock the diff if you get the opportunity of loose ground, wet grass once in a while.
