Ive got a cat-back no silencers for the V8 in the pipe line (3-9 EFI)

what do I need to make it spit pop and flame? how do I make it run rich etc??

:D:D

oh dear if you have cat and run rich=kill it
Also too little back pressure will cause lambda sensors to be all over place

Doesnt the extra fuel cool the cylinders??

am I just better fitting the pipe and leaving it?

cat cars are not tolerant to lean and rich mixtures, if you fit the pipe and it pops like a rally car-lambda sensors will be all over place and won't run efficiently

I had an ax for mot and the baffles were missing-all over place in single box system.

All I can say is try it and see how it runs

You recon it would fail emissions? had cars before with ****ed cats but coz the lump was in tip top the car passed.

depends how it runs if it ran like the ax i.e. sounded like rally car on over run and popped and banged=readings all over place and fail.

If there is enough back pressure that lambda values are stable then no issue.

Last owner cut open the cats and removed what was in them and welded them back up, So thats the reason it costs a fortune in fuel + it rattles from cold till it gets hot, mines stainless cats to back so ill replace the cats up to manifolds with stainless then its a complete good system. :D bet it would fail emissions as it is then. :(

I put a straight through system on my series V8 (3.5 on carbs) with just a cherrybomb type backbox, this is what happens now!

so you wanna make the engine run rich and badly? yer mad but if you do-

Having had that the best way on a hotwire 3.9 is to mess with the idle adjusting screw with the engine running and not clamp off the air pipe as you should.

You will get about 3mpg and it will fook it but each to yer own

In between fixing & driving Disco 2..... a few months ago I got to play with this.....

THE ultimate combo of turbo lag & overfueling:D:D

Can't you just inject fuel into the tailpipe? A few holes to let the air in, an old injector and fuel pump and a spark plug fitted to the pipe run off a coil and trembler - could even be a dummy pipe - and you can have the back end looking like a doodlebug. Can't see the point unless you have real problems with tailgaters.
