I recently purchased a Landrover discovery 2 TD5 (1999) in Germany which I had found on the internet at mobile.de. I live in Belgium and Bulgaria and planned to bring it to Bulgaria. On my way back from Germany to Belgium to pack the warning light and alarm for the ACE started up on a bend and I consulted the manual which said that I should drive no further. I had no choice so I limped to a Landrover dealer in Belgium who hung it on the computer and the computer hung up. He then bled the system and this did not help. I called the last owner (before the dealer) who assured me that I had a good vehicle and that he had had this light once before and it “went away”. The Landrover dealer said that he felt that the problem was electronic rather than mechanical and that he felt that though irritating it would be safe to drive. He charged me 250Euro and sent me on my way.
So I made ready to leave for Bulgaria. The morning I left all hell broke loose and I now got not just the ACE light and warning but also the ABS light, the HDC, the SRS and the TC. I figured it was a complete nervous breakdown (which made two of us!). Also once in a while when I lock the car with the remote the horn sounds. Also sometime the ACE does not give a warning.
On arrival in Bulgaria I took it to Landrover in Burgas and they hung it on the computer the computer gave an error and so they bled the ACE again and they cleaned the filter and found two small pieces of metal in the filter. They say that the valve block should be changed and that it’s a mechanical fault somewhere in the valve block. As to the other lights they had no opinion. The computer said that there is no problems in the cables. They then advised that we take the vehicle to Sofia as they cannot change the valve block in Burgas.
Now if it was just the ACE fair enough but the rest of the light show? Has anybody ever come across something like this and can a problem in the ACE system cause such a lot of other electronic warnings? Any suggestions would be most appreciated (and please I have already had all the “buy a Toyota” cracks).

Thank you

First off, what colour is the ace light? yellow or red?
If its yellow then normally a calibration of the accelerometers will cure that,
if its red then it could be a number of things from low pressure to ace block fault, how a dealer can condem the ace block without the computer communicating is beyond me!!!

If its not communicating with the car then its an ecu fault or the wiring to it

Why did they bleed the system? it should never need to be done unless the system has been apart and fluid lost, sounds to me the dealer you took your vehicle to hasn't got a clue!!

ABS fault is normally wheel speed sensors, ABS doesn't normally play up but if it does then 99 percent of the time its one of the sensors, not alot else gives trouble to be honest, had a few ABS modulators play up but its very rare.

Either way your vehicle needs to go on T4 (computer) and have someone who knows what they are doing to look at it
