ive got a series 3 landy and fitted new rear springs and up rated all the dampers too but now its sitting lopsided almost like theres too much weight on one side !! but ive only got a seat on the side its sitting lower on.

would it be that the front springs need changing as they are still the old ones but dont look bad ???

thanks in advance
rick

i have heard/found that there is actually a left and right spring, they are like this becuase of the fuel tank weighs so much, its like carrying a fat mate under ur bum so when u see ur landy sat there its probally leaning to the side were the fuel tank is ??? (in other words the side with the tank should be sat lower if it is theres your problem)

I heard this also so must be true.

also did u use britpart springs ?? (aka ****epart) cuz ive use them and after about a week they become sagged and tired, if u can, return them and get proper ones.ive had them on about 5months and they look like they need to be replaced and look like theyve been on scince new so any one reading this DO NOT EVER GET BRITPART LEAF SPRINGS!!!!!

I'm listening, cheers M8. Thats the kind of advice we need to be told.

and also if any of you have had this experance before, has anyone tried using thos extended shakles to help raise their landy up abit ??? i foun som on ebay that claim to lift the car by about 1-2 inches will this work or will it put extra strain on the propshaft or the chassis where the springs attach?

umm but unfortunitly i dont know where to get a set of good springs form, that are at a reasonable price, and also what would you all say is a good price??

Bad idea IMHO as it will make the Landy top heavy and more liable to roll?

well i was thinking of using them cuz my brit part springs are crap , and the landy sits low at the back (noting in the back) so i waas thinking of using the extended shakles to combat it leaning backwards so i dont think there would be a problem with i rolling

hi
i have fitted a pair of GB springs but my series 3 has now gone lop sided with the drivers side about 2 inches higher than the NS.
I know about the handing of springs and this is an odd one. i may go back to GB and ask their opinion.
their advice and service was very good.

never ever ever buy britpart they dont even hold there money in scrap value!!!! splash out on a nice set of paras thats what i run on with extended shackles, it doesnt put to much strain on the props as unlike dirty coilers when you lift a leafer the axel stays at the same angle, as for the chance of rollover dont drive it like you stole it and all will be good, the other obvious answer is get a fat mate to counteract lean.

ciderman,
the drivers may look higer becuase the springs are counsilling out the weight when you sit in ?

Series springs are "handed" you need to get the correct spring on the right side of the vehicle or it will not sit right.

wish it was but its sitting down more on the passengers side which is pushing me more towards crap spring  guess ill have to order new ones from a better make then send the old ones back along with the pics to prove it

we need to find someone who works for britpart on here, and let them see our discust from the crap quality

How much difference is there between the measurement from the top of the LH/RH wheel arches to the ground???

Also do you intent to replace the front springs and when?

Series Land Rovers usually had four different road spring part numbers one for each corner, then 4 for each wheel base, then there were the all H/D springs depending on build options.

i have just removed some britpart fronts after 18 months they were fine on road, and then one bent at the front doing some light off roading this rotated the axle bending the other spring which then bent my drag link track rod end (power steering conversion box on out side of chassis leg) when i removed them the rear front spring bushes had virtually worn away im not impressed over a £100 wasted.
