Had my Nanocom Evolution for a week and decided to try for some 'live' readings - keep getting the 'communication error' no matter what I try. I was getting momentary readings but then it stopped 😁
It does however talk to EAS ecu. Did a 'pin test' and pin 7 comes out as error.

Contacted the nanocom forum but no replies - seems as though they've finished for he weekend!!!!

Now I'm getting "told you you shouldn't be getting something from Cyprus ..." from STMBO

What do you mean "did a pin test"?
Nanocom is good, just as likely to be the car as the Nanocom. I trust you read the operating instructions? On some devices, the memory can be corrupted if unpluged when in the middle of an operation, should only be unplugged when the device is at rest, home page.

Yes I was careful to read the instructions and set it up using laptop USB. Also connecting the lead to device before attaching to OBD port etc. I was getting live readings to start then all of a sudden it stopped doing it. I can check my eas but now nothing else.
On the 'nanocom' tab there is a tab to check pins which only runs when connected to OBD - it comes up 'run...' Then 'ok'. Pin 7 check comes up 'error'

I've tried "ignition off' - 'position II' - and with engine running. All I've tried to do so far is 'read' the data - nothing else.

I'm assuming 'pin 7' is the connection to the other ecu's and a different 'pin' is used for eas ecu.

Also I don't have a windoze PC only a mac so can't update to latest firmware (it's on the previous one).

EAS uses it's own exclusive pins. I'll have a look ar RAVE for pin 7.

That is correct check your OBDII socket.

Assuming the car is a diesel, pin 7 on the OBD connector goes to the engine ECM and the BECM via splice and the ABS ECU, so effectively it's a common line for all 3.
Can you interrogate the BECM or the ABS ECU?

2000 DHSE and it won't 'talk' to them either! Is there a way I can clean OBD port in case it's a bad connection?

Best thing is to take it out and give it a coat of looking at could be corroded pins could be corroded or detached wire. Use contact cleaner on it not blue can WD 40.

Been on the nanocom forum and updated firmware as suggested. Still getting the same problem so it looks like it's the nanocom itself.

That's jumping to conclusions, just as likely the car. As the poster above suggests, try your Nanocom on another P38, petrol or diesel will do as you will be able to look at the BECM or ABS even if you can't look at the engine.

It was an 'administrator' of the nanocom forum (who I believe has a connection with BBS) who guided me and is sending an RMA so I can send it back - he seems to think there is a fault and has apologised.
I'm quite happy with the good reputation of BBS and that it will be repaired/sorted - it's just one of those things and the reason for a guarantee.

I'm in Leicester and unfortunately don't know anyone with another P38 - although they're around so if anyone sees this then please contact me.

Im in desford if you want to try another nanocom, but its for a v8 so will be limited on what you can test.

That would be kind, at least it would rule out my own vehicle - we could check the live data perhaps (which is not working on mine). PM me if we can do it sometime this weekend. :)

Update!!
Nanocom sorted! The people at BBS are excellent, can't recommend them enough!

(Just don't use Royal Mail Parcel Force - they told me 4 days and it took 10. So now called Royal Snail).
