looking for a series landy.

Hello again everyone,i haven'been on for a while.The time has come for me to buy myself a series landy,my ideal landy would be a series v8 on lpg with overdrive,short wheelbase,tax and mot exempt,canvas back.butI will make some exeptions.A v8 without lpg will do,as long as its a v8 and tax and mot exempt.I'm not in a rush,if anyone wants to sell one try me.Cheers.

Unless you find a series that came out of the factory with a V8 you are going to have to argue the toss with the DVLA to keep Mot exemption.

Yes,it's got to be propper.looks like iv'e got a job on my hands finding one,i keep looking.

How will i know it's legit.

As far as I know the only widely available ones were the stage 1 V8's. If I'm wrong then somebody's bound to tell me.

You're highly unlikely to find what you're looking for because it's non standard. Why not create what you want by buying a S3. By the time you do that it's hardly original, seems pointless.

your right,i love the series landrovers.A nice short wheelbase,2 1/4 petrol,hard top and rag top for summer,tax and mot exemptI l love V8's,iv'e had three V8 classic Range Rovers and three V8 Discovery 1s..My car's a classic Lexus with a 4l V8,i cant help it,it's the burbble.

Yes but like I said you're unlikely to find an original V8 especially a SWB.
If you put a V8 into a 2 1/4 you will lose the MOT exemption as the engine swap isn't deemed a like for like swap i.e 4 cylinder for a 4 cylinder replacement regardless of the fact it might have a turbo.
If you don't mind having it tested every year (should't be an issue really) then go for it you could get an old disco V8 for next to nothing (as you no doubt know having owned a few) because they fall to bits eventually so theres loads of MOT failures out there.

No,i wouldn't butcher a series landrover,i mean i'll just get a Disco 2 to play with.

The V8 is great engine. JLR did make SWB Defenders for the USA market but they're unobtainium here and rare as hens teeth. My preferred dream series would be a SWB with the 2.6l straight six, but you need a deeper bulkhead to take the length- a fantastic burbly engine. Alloy heads are prone to warping. Only available back in the day in LWB version and the carawagon.

The straght six,the same engine as the old rovers then is it.Yes they are nice.I had a triumph vitesse,2l srraight six enghne.That was a bit nippy,for it's time.

Same engine but different compression etc.
