Hi all,

Having a starting problem in that it used to start the second it cranked. Since last week its started to take a lot longer to crank but does start. Runs fine, no powerloss, no smoke, no lights on etc
Anyway, had a look around for obviuos causes and viewed every forum, talking about injectors, pumps etc

On ignition position 2 I get a loud clicking from the R04 Relay in Engine bay ( 1 of 4 yellow ones). Also the twin fans at the front start whizzing around on and off!!!Swapped relays still clicks in position R04.

Also just fitted a new B ehind the wheel arch Fuel pump and Filter.

Its an intermittent fault no connection with temperature or weather etc.

Really am lost now, spent all weekend chasing my tail with relays, sensors etc.

Any Ideas??

It is the classic symptoms of an injector starting to leak back. Plenty of posts on here on how to test. Once started it will run fine its just that the injector does not allow the rail to get to the corect pressure when cranking. If it is a leaking injector it will get to the point when it will not start.

Would an injector failure cause the relay to start clicking irraticly and an intermittent fuel pump not priming though? This happens before I have even cranked, holding in key position 2 for the glow plug light to extinguish.( which I have changed all 4 and this side works fine.)

Hi I had buzzing relay syndrome combined with very long cranks..........
The buzzing was caused by the ignition switch breaking down......as power to relays flows through this and ecu..........did mine fixed that.
Long cranks.........mine is still playing up intially had leak test done and had injector replaced......still longish cranking but it did start. Then fuel pumps went down.....no start at all......when fixed will start but still longish cranks up to around 8 seconds.
AA did a test....recond there was no current to glow plugs..... and yes mine starts pretty well when there is mild weather.....but not when around zero. I am now in process of replacing glow plug relay and glow plugs .....quite cheap......I am convinced
this is my problem ...... just thought it may help.

Sorry just noticed you replaced glow plugs.........right my thoughts would be the low pressure fuel pump.........and probably the ignition switch. PS check glow plug relay.
