Hi, just got my first defender 90, td5 2000, my wife has used it today, and used the wrong keys entirely! But still got in and drove away...

Is this really how bad the locks are, or should I be looking to replace them?

Would appreciate your help

Cheers

Nope..thats as good as they get..i started a series with a tuppeny-piece..get a disklock and a clutch-claw and a dog and drive-posts and a gun and a dog and a cctv camera and a direct link to the fuzz.

:p:p:pThe back of my 110 is probably the only place that doesn't leak, and i can cuddle up to the 10 stone of Mastiff in there so i don't need an extreme sleeping bag, he does bloody snore though, but luckily i'm already deaf from driving the Fender in the first place..., bonus;);)

Mine leaks pretty badly unfortunately! :( I put some insulation in it a while back and found ice on it the other day  I do have a webasto diesel heater to install at some point though :)

The locks on my 90 300TDiare pretty good, I replaced the door handles with the anti burst one's (they have a metal sleeve around the barrel)

I also replaced the ignitionlock cos i could turn it with anything, Now there nice and secure,

For security i have a CAT 1 Alarm and imobiliser to stop them and waken me up before i run at them with me bat oh and i have 3 Black belts, so poor them hee hee

When you say you have replaced your door handles with anti burst ones what do you mean? do they have a blank over the lock?
Ive been thinking about adding central locking to my 2000 TD5 defender and disconecting the lock mechanism so its fully controlled by the central locking only, Ive noticed that the new defenders dont have a door lock on the pass side, do you think that these handles with the lock blanks could be used on both sides or find a pass side handle from a LHD.

Trade it in for a 1985 version.....I never bother to lock mine and no one has ever broken in as far as I know. But then I do live in the country. Central locking just sounds like another thing to go wrong and it will just as you need to get into your car the most.
