I spent a very cold night putting in the wiring on my series 3, not as bad as i thought, well as long as i thought about it logically.

One of the things i noticed was that the key is snapped of inside the ignition barrel, and i have no spare key for it.

So the question is can i get a new key made anywhere, and how do i do that. Or how do i replace said barrel with a new one??

Dont fancy shelling out a couple of hundred quid on a new ignition unit.

Many thanks

this is one of those things where if i can see down the barrel and see whats leaft of the key i could tell you exactly how to get the bugger out

but if yer like me and cant do piccies to save yer life just tell me if the key is snapped half way down the barrel or at the top end and well go from there

On my Disco, and i assume similar on other motors, once yu remove the lock assy from the steering wheel housing, the barrel is held in place by a small grub screw. this can be removed and the barrel slid out. Once the barrel is out, then the key remnant can be pushed out. To remove the barrel, yu may need to insert the key stub to retract all of the locking tangs.

Sorry missed your post :)

Sould i'll have a go at that before the pub tonight, looks like im going shopping at craddocks tomorrow, best not take my credit card with me....

I've got em out before not on landys but the same principle, take the lock off the column make sure its in the off position and bash the face of the lock against a piece of wood, the key will come to the edge where you can grab it with yer snipeys.
