Ok, so I have broken the rules a bit here. You'll find out why in a sec.
In 2011 I went a 1 month/7000 mile trip through several countries.
UK, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine/Pripyat/Chernobyl, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria.
It was one hell of a trip, plenty of adventure, some great camping spots and lots of new experiences; bribing police all the way through Ukraine, to name only one. There was one thing about the whole trip that I would have like to seen different.. the vehicle. I have owned two discovery's previously, one was written off and the other was sold to buy a van for work. For financial reasons I was landroverless for 3 1/2 years!! This meant, to do this trip I had to use my brothers 2008 Ford Fiesta!!. I'm sure you are thinking the same thing I was thinking when I first planned this trip and decided I didnt have much of a choice in the way of vehicles, but after 4 weeks of basically living out of this car, I can only recommend it as the absolute best small cars I have ever driven.
Anyway, the main reason I have brought this up is, while we were visiting Auschwitz, we stumbled across a lovely convoy of UK registered landrovers. Unfortunately, we were leaving as they were entering and only smiles and waves were exchanged.
I was wondering if anyone from this forum was in this group. If so, I would like to hear about your trip and where you had been. I had a good nosey in your vehicles (hope you dont mind
an noticed a SERIOUS AMOUNT of OS maps and a very nice computer mapping system which got me curious as to how far your adventure took you.
I have put some pictures below, I'm sure someone will be lurking. I have also added a couple of pics of the Fiesta for no one who will be interested
Ps. if anyone has any questions or wanting some advice on my trip, feel free to ask (I need to get my post count up).
