Hi all ,just had to have a new light switch for my defender 90 td5, I needed it quick as lots of fog and dark journeys to work etc, garage charged me £84 I thought it was a bit steep, as it isn't a gen part and has already failed any thoughts::confused:

Take it back and get them to change it again under warranty.

By the time they get the parts from thir supplier and add their mark up and then charge an hours labour to remove and re-fit the cowling and change the switch over it sounds about right.

Was it a britpart switch?

As if the original Lucas stalks are not crap enough, never get after market ones, I caught the indicator stalk with a strap and snapped mine, I think I paid about 30-40 for a Lucas one and took about 20 mins to change, including smoking a fag.

Thanks for the response ,they sorted it today ,and yes the price did include fitting, don't get me wrong the garage is one I use regular and would recommend. ,and they are very good , just seemed a lot for a switch, the old VAT soon knocks up the bill though thanks again cheers Terry
