i have 3 door td4 which is classed as a light goods vehicle on the log book..
i also own a 5 door mk1 pajero that is classed as a estate car-because it has 5(7) seats.. is this the same for all freelanders or has someone registered my car incorrectly?

no its a 3 door hardtop with glass, rear seats and a baby seat in at the moment! only had nearly 2 weeks realised its not taxed and then saw its registered as light goods for an extra £60 a year!

Might be worth getting your VIN checked to see if it is a commercial which has been converted?

My Td4 manual freelander commercial is £225 for 12 months tax - though that was cheaper then a passenger variant but may be wrong.

sounds like it might be a converted commercial.

All the commercial variants have the flat rate road tax irrespective of engine or transmission, which is nice as I have a td4 auto and would be paying more than £225.

hi

go onto the web site where u can check a part and have to put in the reg number or the other one is checking past mots, it will tell you what it should be registered at,

agree though sounds like a former commercial , but has it got special vehicle badges on the wings or under the bonnet as if it has got special vehicle would have been a commerical

gary

turns out the car has been classed as a commercial d1 and has now been changed to an m1 estate car. £280 a year and now im thinking your right that d1 is cheaper road tax! i was comparing it to my pajero where im paying £220 and it classed as an m1... proper confused!
