Evening all. Had an annoying ticking from the Disco 1 (300TDi) for a good while now, tried to locate it using all the known methods, but couldn't really find out what it was. Changed the fuel filter tonight as it was way overdue, and when I came to prime up the lift pump again I was pumping the lever for ever and nothing (tried turning the engine to make sure it was 'off-cam'). I ended up taking the pump off after trying several things, and I found that the lever works fine, but it appears not to be connected to the diaphragm operating rod!! I am hoping that this is the cause of the ticking, and as the truck has been a little 'reluctant' to go that well lately I am assuming that the pump was just giving up.

Anyone had the lift pump fail like that before?

Hopefully that is all the issues I will face. I would like to clean the sedimenter but I am worried that it will be one of thoe ba****ds that shears rather than undoes :(

I guess I'll see how I get on once I get a new lift pump. Does anyone know where I can get one fairly quickly in the Callington, Cornwall area?

Thanks guys.

JB
