Morning all. Looking to get a lift kit and new wheels and tyres for my FL1. A 40mm lift looks the best option as it less work, will I need camber bolts with this? I'm going to get some 16" moduars and fit some Cooper Discoverer STT Pro tyres, what's the biggest I can go to with these? I'll for spacers if needs be.

Cheers Simon

My modulars are hub centric but there off a Honda CR-V (older type)they have a larger off set so I managed to fit 235/70/16 Bfgoodrich AT without spacers that’s with a 40mm kit and I would did fit the camber bolts on mine.

I don't believe modulars are hubcentric, which many insurers don't like, and rightly so IMO.

Why not use standard FL1 "Freedom" rims painted black, with the tyres you want?

Thanks Nodge. Looking on eBay there are lots of 16" Alloys which I'd be happy with, I'll just paint them black. Will a set off a 2002 fit my 2005?

Definitely post your build (with loads of pictures) here - I am seriously thinking of doing the same on mine, before the London Mayor makes me sell my Hippo on thanks to the extension of the ULEZ (aka the older-car tax) - although I could just leave this parked in Wiltshire outside my dad's house... (now there's a thought!)

Can you still buy these new?

That's correct - the modulars available for the FL1 aren't hubcentric (which strikes as odd) - but you can get centre-bore adapter rings, which was going to be my plan until I spotted Danyou's post above :)

I’m not sure rob I got mine second hand, larger off set as well so saves you money on spacers and IMO there safer not overly keen on spacers unless you fork out £200odd quid for a decent set.

I'm not keen on spacers either Gary - plus there's that concern regarding the longevity of wheel bearings with the increase of offset. That said, the car is a toy more than a daily driver (I can't drive to work in central London) - so I'll see whether the CR-V modular wheels are still an option to buy new :)

I would rather change a bearing than see my tyre overtake me  lesser of two evils lol
