Lift and Tire Advice Needed

I just bought a 99' Jeep Cherokee Sport and want to start playing with it.
I first want to lift 4-5'' or so and 31-32'' tires. I just don't know
where to start looking for prices, best parts etc. I'm a newbie to this,
so talk to me like I'm stupid, because I am. Thanks for the replies.
