You can also lift one wheel get under and put your hand on the UJs whilst someone rocks the wheel back and forth. You will feel play long before you see it. A lot quicker check than removing the prop shaft. If ANY play is detected change the UJs. It also depends on your definition of a wobble a duff UJ won't cause a wheel wobble.

If you try this method for checking rear prop be sure to chock one rear wheel. The hand brake is negated when you lift a rear wheel.

Surely it's not if the front wheels are down though as the center diff is locked? But I see your point of having three wheels off the ground and the fourth not holding as it would spin in the open diff in the axle.

Regardless, I chock when I lift :D

No centre lock diff. Has a VCU. It locks when the front and rear halves spin at different speeds (the fluid inside get hot and is temperature sensitive). Rest of the time approx. 50/50 front / rear split of power but if one is off the ground the other spins freely until it is spinning fast enough to lock the VCU up.

The hand brake acts on the rear wheels only. Jack a rear wheel up on an incline and see what happens. You have been warned.

Or when the lifted wheel tries to go over your chest. :D

Many years ago a friend of a friend ran himself over with his own dumpertruck. I cannot remember exactly what happened now but he got out and went round the front to check something and the hand-brake either wasn't on or not tight (no deadman's switch under the seat in those days) and it rolled forward. He lost his footing, got caught and it went over his chest. He chest went from convex to concave according to my mate. By the time he got over there he was fading away. Needless to say he didn't survive the mistake. Not a pretty sight I was told.
