This is a short video that is the last in a series of 3 from a recent laning weekend. We had been camping in the Devils Bridge area of Wales and on the return leg, we took in the Happy Valley Lane and the Bearded Lake.

Another first for me and yet again a great experience because of the diversity of the terrain and the fantastic views as we traversed the contours of the valley summit running along the Dovey Estuary.

By this stage in the trip quite a few had dropped by the wayside and it was just 1 Pinzgauer, a 90 and my 110 left to finish the weekend.

Would you believe after the smash on day 1 mine was still going strong but then snapped an almost brand new shock. I’ve got shock droppers on +2 OME shocks and I’m sure they are over compressing.

Anyway, hope you enjoy this.

Yet another corker , that happy valley - on a nice day - would be all my laning dreams come true , great views .....only thing is we'd need a pretty good chaperone for mechanical breakdowns etc , cos i imagine if something goes wrong out there , you need to be able / know a man who can fix it ...:)

Yeah that's me as well to be honest. The deal is I make the films and my mates help me with the amazing amount of breakages I seem to get!

Only this weekend a lad snapped a shock on the Pheasant Steps in Wales and his spring popped out and we were hanging over the edge of bank but the guys weren't phased and got it all sorted with bits no bobs and spares we carry!

Thats your problem!

Does amaze me how people think they can get something for nothing. :p

right, when you fit +2 shocks it is to give you the same articulation as standard but with a 2" lift right? ok. ;)

But you've fitted droppers in the hope of keeping the wheel in contact with the floor longer. What you gain on one end you lose on the other. IE, now you've taken away from the upstroke and added to the down on the shock.

What happened to the other side of a live axle when one end goes down? It goes up. Id say our topping the shock out when the other side dislocates.

You need to get +5 shocks not +2's. And get rid of the droppers. They will give premature ware to your shocks too as they are causing them to sit 2" lower than they have been manufactured too.

Good luck :D

I have to say I was impressed that you had a spare shock with you!!! I was in the group that arrived behind you on the steps.

As it happens it was me that had the spare shock (to be fair i actually was carrying 2 spares) but i cannot claim it was really being well prepared.. i had just swapped my old shocks over to some new Terrafirma shocks the day before & just put the old ones in my boot for safe keeping....

might carry a spare round from now on though..we have broken shocks on a few trips between our group and its a relatively easy fix if its just the shock...

Yeah we got lucky but then I always carry a spare front and rear shock, lots of bushes n bits n bobs! Pays to be prepared!

Its a common mistake so I'm told and this one was down to me trusting the word of a so called 4x4 expert! You live and learn though I guess!

Next time I am ready to replace +5 shocks are definitely what I'm going to do!

Sorry fella i didn't mean to sound like a eejit, not this time anyway.

Yep we do live and learn. How do you think i know ;) :D

Stick with the OME though there brilliant shocks. The rebound is so much better than other stuff out there.
