Hello,

My vehicle is a 1984 land rover 90 2.5D N/A with power steering.

I am replacing a leaking power steering hose between the power steering pump and steering box. It is the high pressure supply hose.

The fitting into the steering box appears to have a compression olive which is stuck in the steering box housing. Is this meant to be removed and if so are there any tips on how to do it?.

Also the thread on the new hose appears to be slightly different to the old one. Hose appears to be correct otherwise. Anyone else had similar problems?.

Any advice very much appreciated.
Regards
Chris

you have a 3 bolt box in that case then,6 and 4 bolt boxes dont use olives, it can be prised out
Ok thanks - there appear to be 4 bolts through the chassis rail to the box - Silly question but does this mean it is a 4 bolt?. There is a male conical part in the port in the box that mates with a female conical part on the old hose. It looks like an olive to me and new hose has one pressed into the end. New hose certainly won't fit with the male conical part in the box. What are the distinctive feature of the hose fitting in a 4 bolt box?.

Thanks for your help.

Chris

its the bolts in the top cap on the box ,not through chassis securing, there are 3 bolt 4 bolt and 6 bolt types, 3 bolt has a ali olive ,4 and 6 bolt use an oring on the pipe flare
