Built a land rover 109 series 2a with perkins prima engine for my father 7 years ago.

There has been quite a vibration that feels like you have the most knobbly tyres ever coming though the floor and steering at 45-55mph, it has overdrive.

Shock horror he has never filled the transfer box, gearbox or overdrive

The overdrive was ok

However the transfer box was as good as empty and the gearbox prob had about 1 litre at most in.

Have filled it all up and the vibration is more muffled "coated" in oil

any ideas what he would have screwed up, if it is livable and not dangerous and how much for the bits needed.

I am thinking he has screwed the transfer bearings?

just put a new rear prop on and taken front on off to check it was not that.

Any ideas

Wouldnt have done the bearings much good and it would have got pretty hot with no oil.

You can check the transfer bearings with the prop off, just knock both boxes in neutral with the handbrake off (Chock the vehicle obviously)
