hi i have bought a 2004 l322 td6, this was sat in a yard for about 7 years, well i thought i would give it a go as i like a project but think this mit be a little out of my league could do with some help and advice please, so will give you the low down when i got it it wouldn't start with out easy start once started it ran fine and would start of the key. so changed the glow plugs and now wont start at all turns over but no click brumm and now when i put the key in the ignition turn to it and straight away the horn just starts blowing and wont go off until i turn key off. now the key opens all doors but i have to do it with the key in the door as the buttons don't seem to work. i think the immobilizer has kicked in but have know idea as this is all new to me. if any one has any idea's or can help please i'm getting desperate now its been sat on my brothers drive for 2 months.

Welcome, if the remote isn't working then maybe change the battery in i and go from there.
You will be needing a good diagnostic tool aswell.

hi thank you battery seems fine and i bought a new key and swapped the transponder over with new battery but no luck tryed the turning the key in the door trick but no luck again just need to work out why the horn blasts out as soon as turn the key in the ignition and why it wont start now.

I'm no expert and have never owned a Range Rover but it sounds like it's not reading the key.
You need to test the RF on the key first.

Hello and welcome :)
when you swapped the key over did you remember the little bit that dont look like much but is the transponder a lot of peeps forget or loose it .

Hi yes the little black transponder I moved it in to the new key. It seems to do everything but work when I press the buttons the little led light comes on. Tried plugging in to the obd socket to scan for errors and found a lot of can bus problems and, it keeps saying can bus protocol fail. Here are some sceen shots of what I get. I don't understand alot of them may be someone on here might. I get the feeling there may be a problem with the ecu unit.

What scan tool did you use as it needs to be LR specific?
I would maybe start with the screen shot that says supply voltage less than 9.6v even though you said the battery seemed fine.
How did you determine it was fine?

Left it on charge for a week. Didn't want to buy a new one until I got to the bottom of everything else. And I used a ediag plus

I can't find anything that says that works on your RR, does it say anything in the manual? The L322 isn't OBD2 compliant.
You need to test your battery with a multimeter, if it won't hold a charge it doesn't matter how long you leave it on charge.
These cars are full of ecu's that require the correct voltage to work and less than 9.6v ain't gonna work.

I didn't know that thank you for the info. I will try and check the battery tomorrow will keep you up dated. Is there any battery that would be a good replacement that doesn't cost an arm and a leg lol. Cheers. And which scanner would be best suited for one of these l322,s.

The most recommended battery on here is the MF31-1000 as it's the biggest you can fit in the space but some have had issues depending on which battery disconnect module they have.
Have a search on here (top right corner) there's lots of info.
Have a search for diagnostic tools for the L322 as there are a few depending on budget. I have a Foxwell NT530 pro but it's now discontinued.
You may find yours works once the ecu's have enough power to work correctly.

Thank you very much this gives me somewhere to start. Will have a good look to see what I can find for the scanner.

If you intend to keep the car it's worth spending the money on a good one but it all depends if your car is economically viable to get running properly.

that's what I'm trying to work out at the min. When I bought it it started and drove then when I got it home that's when things started to go wrong. I snapped 3 glow plugs so had to pay to get them taken out. The hole car stands me at about 1100 pounds up to now.
