I've been having a look at this website about the hidden menus and they seem to contain quite a bit of info. One of the options is to reset faults would this rest air suspension errors? How accurate is the engine temp reading? Would it be the same reading as if it was plugged into textbook or similar?

Hi rob

I used that reset procedure to clear a brake pad wear sensor error I was getting and it did work to I presume it will clear the EAS error your getting, if you still get the error after the reset procedure there is something causing the error to be flagged up. Try turning the steering wheel full lock to full lock that usually resets any EAS faults.

HiMatt
I'm not getting an EAS fault was just a one off. I'm thinking about in the future if it happens. Do you know if the onboard computers can be reset for mpg speed etc using these menus? A friend has an X5 with an aftermarket screen so his OBC is now not resettable using the usual routes.

Bit of a different question but you see the display style on the nav screen on that site you linked?, how can you change your screen to look like that, mine went into looking like that on its own but the Navigation option was missing from the screen, I had to re insert the nav disc to get it to come back up, but when I did it went back to the cold style theme.

Hi mate
To get your screen to look like that you need to do the MK4 satnav upgrade. If you have already done that then Matt will have to help. I've only hot the standard Mk3 system. To change themes/colors on the mk3 there in the "set" menu on the second screen menu.

I've got the original Sat Nav from 2002 but when I had to reset the Nav Computer the screen looked like that instead of the usual style:confused:

No it's not got DVD on it, here is a pic of my Nav Computer:

Now I'm questioning mine! I thought the only way to get the map view like that was to have the DVD satnav. If you had that view I want mine to do the same!

That view came up but how it happened was:
Mechanic was working on my car and I think he disconnected the battery, when I turned the car on to leave the garage that view came up, which I found weird but thought, actually I prefer it.
I noticed there was no option for navigation on the screen so when I stopped I removed the disc and put it back in, then the navigation came back but unfortunatly so did the old display style:confused:

just to confirm a MK3 unit (the one without the DVD label on the front) you can only really change the background colour on the unit (as far as i can remember) with the MK4 unit it has the updated firmware that has a completely different user interface that looks very similar the to the latest menu system on the later touch screen versions. The DVD version is the only version that you can get the latest maps for.
