2003 TD6 was supposed to go in the the local dealers in september for the front diff recall to be done ,the day before they phoned to say they'd used the parts on another car we would get it done when the parts came in ,then yesterday the joint went ,sitting there with the drive screeching ,eventually got the AA to get me home .
phoned the dealers and they say end of november for the parts so I asked for a car as I think its down to them not doing it when they should of ,so they refered me to LR customer services who are trying to find the bits quicker but are dragging their feet over the car ,
has anyone else had any bother like this with the front diff prop issue.

Considering Q041 began 3.5 years ago I'm amazed that the Land Rover dealerships are still carrying out the work. The Service Action was supposed to have expired on 31/12/10 and then got extended to September 2011.......so, even though it might not feel like it, maybe you're fortunate :)

See rangerovers.net there are 19 pages of others who have had the same issue.

just to update phoned L/R customer services on friday and the parts turned up at the dealers yesterday, got the car taken to dealers yesterday morning and picked it up tonight valeted and all fixed for free ,I paid for the car transporter £50 just to get it sorted as quick as possible ,
so it seems from a bad situation last friday to my car fixed for nothing ,can only praise the 2 people at L/rover customer services for sorting it,think the speed of parts arrival may have had something to do with me asking for a car until mine would be fixed which was first going to be 3 weeks and suppose the dealer can come in for a bit of a pat on the back to.

ive been on to customer services as well and they have led me to belive they are going to speed it up , mine is still running ok but i am reluctant to over stress it so i drive like i have an egg under the throttle

don't know if driving style has much influence as mine went going along a straight road at 30mph with no warning clunks etc. but was told by the dealer when found mine hadn't been done that after 100,000 miles if it hasn't gone it probably won't! (yeah right), after talking to the dealer he said the only people who can influence getting the bits quicker are customer services. but on the bright side if its on a list at the dealers to be done and it breaks then you can put it across that its land rovers responsibility ,keep being a pain in the arse and it'll probably push you up the list ,

i had one a couple of years ago.history check revealed it had 5 front diffs.but none after it had the upgrade.

phone another dealer and place an order for the modified front diff and propshaft and see when they can get them for...... or even phone the same dealer to were your car is at give them a different name and when the parts come in phone em up and say i know u have the parts bla bla bla fix it!!!

update
having mine done next week , land rover customer relations rang me to say the parts are now with my local dealer . so i am booked in next week they want it all day and are giving me a courtesy car , i wonder what they will give me a range rover or a mondeo

Another update ,its leaking from the front diff input oil seal which is replaced when the recall is done its going in for them to have a look at it tomorrow ,so we'll wait and see.

got the duff oil seal replaced but found today looks like they've left off the nut on the passenger side compression arm ball joint or haven't done it up tight enough and its fell off. will be phoning them tomorrow to discuss it.

went in to see them ,did as i expected and said didn't think it was their fault as don't touch it when removing diff ,but they did offer a free inspection after I'd fixed it ,they were quite helpful though

Hi guys, not posted here in a while, the diff coupling has just given way on our 2003 RR 4.4, has covered 81k. has the 'repair bulletin / recall' now ended at land rover?

If so, im assuming these are the parts required to repair it?

Any advise / suggestions would be appreciated.

I think you where meant to take yours into Landrover when the recall was made

Probably too late now mate

Composed a carefully worded e-mail to Land Rover making specific reference to the safety issues, advised me to take it to LR in Doncaster. Been looked at by Land Rover in Doncaster today and have confirmed it is diff coupling LRUK have agreed for it to be done free of charge as a goodwill gesture even though the service action has now ended.

Contrary to what others have said, ours has done 81k before breaking which seems to be the highest mileage i have seen.

Overall very happy with the outcome so far.

Well done, Stratstone Landrover I presume!

Not my favourite dealership as they like to charge £60 quid for diagnostics when under warranty and the fault is covered by the warranty?
Very very strange!
So I now use guy salmon at Wakefield, very very good dealership.

It was Statstone who were told to do it by LRUK. I phoned them when it happened and they said there are no service actions required on the vehicle, either they had been done already or they didn't apply to that vehicle. So didn't help me off their own back at all.
