Hi Guys
Stopped thismorning to fill with gas. Didn't close the door properly but locked the car with the fob as I went to pay. Came out and unlocked with fob (at least I thought in unlocked) opened the door and the alarm went off. Used the fob to try and deactivate the alarm and no joy. Key in ignition and car started ok. Drove off the forecourt with alarm going. Stopped up the road and tryed fob again. Nothing. Ran home got spare key and that wouldn't deactivate alarm???? Used the spare key in lock then the fob and alarm stopped. What's going on? Got to work and original key locked and unlocked car ok? I'm going to replace bat in spare key today. Is there anything special I need to do before/after I have done this?
Any help guidance would be great
Rob

Had lots of these issues over the years doing roadside. Bmws and ranges were notorious for this. I removed the earth from the battery and then put the key in the ignition and turn to the on position. Then refit the earth to the neg of the battery, it tricks the system to think it's on and resets the alarm. I guestimate it's worked for me about 90%

I had this happen once to me , I just shut the door properly and used the key to lock position then unlocked, the remote worked was ok after , hope this helps .

Apologies for the old thread resurrection but as this is almost the same situation as my friend is now facing, I thought it appropriate.

Tried to insert the key with the negative disconnected but the lock barrel on the ignition won't turn. So have tried putting the key to ignition on and then disconnecting the battery negative for 30 minutes before reconnecting it. No difference.

The car won't unlock on the remote, so a manual unlock of the drivers door and car alarm goes off. Key in the ignition and the engine starts but the flashers stay flashing for 5 minutes.

Apart from the fact that all other doors and boot remain locked (the interior door unlock button doesn't do anything) the car drives ok now until stopped and then the alarm goes off again when you get out via the drivers door.

There were no special circumstances leading up to this, one day it all locked up ok, the next day this issue arose when trying to unlock it.

Anyone else got any ideas ? :D

Thanks guys
