Hello All.

I'm new to the forum, so apologies if i have posted in the wrong topic cat!
I have a 2004 (Facelift) Land Rover Freelander TD4. 5 door.

Recently i have developed a constant knocking sound from the back of the car when the engine is running, however, no engine lights are lit, and it is not affecting the car, but is damn well annoying!!

Could this be the fuel pump? If so, how much are we talking (cheapest) to repair, It's happened at the wrong time of year, and i'm frightend it's going to pack up?

All help will be appreciated.

Regards,

Dave

Id hazard a guess if its that audible then its more likely to be the exhaust is knocking on something. Has one / both of the rubber mounts failed on the back box? If so itll bang like owt! Simple and cheap to fix :)

If it's knocking whilst stationary I'd go with exhaust mounting too. If it's when you change gear and there's an audible clunk it could be rear diff mounts. This is one issue that tends to occur quite regularly on my freelander. Not too difficult to sort out and mounts are relatively cheap on bidding site. Other than that, get under and give everything a good poke, push, and kick and see if the noise can be recreated. Hope this hel[ps. And as for Xmas, Ha! I've just had to fork out on a new clutch today which cost a small fortune. Merry Xmas.

As its part of the green oval corporation (the magnificent organisation admired the world over for good old british built reliability) Ill assume something is loose or fallen off causing your knocking.

Get under the car when everythings off and start hitting at things with a mallet, that'll soon locate where its coming from
