Hi all,

Gearbox has chewed a few bearings last monday so has to come out. While I was underneath removing the prop I noticed again that the spring bushes are worn. They look cracked and heavily compressed. Its the second set I have put in in about 1 year. Its a pig of a job getting the old ones out (the outer bush) and I don't really want to repeat it again. They are parabolic springs with the larger diameter bushes.
Anyone had the same problem? Is it just cheap parts or something more sinister?

Might be a question of not preloading the springs before tightening up the bushes. That makes the bushes work with a permanent rotary offset which can tear the rubber. There doesn't seem to be a setup procedure for parabolic springs so it's a bit hit and miss. You could try poly bushes as there's no outer to remove if they deteriorate.

Thanks oxides,

Yep tried various preloading procedures but didn't seem to change much. Also phoned polybush but they don't do any for the larger diameter bushes.
The Landy is leaning heavily to the drivers side also. Apparently, these Parabolics are not handed so I have always suspected its the chassis. I had welded on new spring hangers and thought that I have put them slightly in the wrong place. Extensive measuring and bubble action from the spirit level confirms that I haven't been a muppet. However, the lean is getting worse so I am more and more suspecting crap quality parts.
I have to say that parts quality in general is getting worse in my opinion. I have had several bits n bobs that haven't lasted or needed modification to fit. Gives me the ump....
