I have recently bought a facelift freelander, I was given 2 keys and a fob that operates the locks and alarm, I think there is a transponder thing in the key for the immobilise, I was wondering if it is possible to make the two parts as one. Basically so the buttons that operate the central locking and alarm are then part of the key, like they are in other cars ? any suggestions please let me know

And the advantage of all that effort and/or expense would be .......??

I've been driving Freelanders and all sorts of vehicles with various types of alarms and key-fobs for donkey's years and the need for combining /modifying the originals has never been apparent, to me.

I see no extra convenience in what you are suggesting.

There are lots of other things to modify, change or improve first.

Well the drivers door does not lock using the fob but thats another issue..... the reason behind me wanting to do this is basically I want something that fits in my pocket better having a fob is just bulk for the sake of it, and I keep dropping them when my hand are full trying to turn them round to use the key, its only a matter of time before they end up down some grid :/, thanx for your replies though, will look into the link given :)

Yes I scrolled to the bottom, and it shows the key I already have, it Has a really small chip inside the casing, I just thought I would be able to buy a fob with a blank key already attached so I could get that cut, then remove the the innerds of the fob and remove the chip from the key and put them all together in one new key fob..... Simples !!!!! (NOT)

You could ask a 12 to 15 year old 'Twocker' of course - they have no problem with that sort of thing. ;)
