Hi All
I'm considering dropping in a K&N air filter into my 2008 TDV8. Has anybody done this already and how did they find it?

As far as I know, they dont make much difference having one fitted.

Either way I fitted one as I like the low maintenance they offer

How is cleaning & re-oiling less maintenance than just replacing with perfectly adequate paper filter (about 30 seconds on mine).

I´ve been using them for many years with zero problems. They give a more lively feeling to the engine and just make sure you follow the instructions on the box (don´t soak the thing in oil and let drain/absorb any excess)

Better do some maintenance now after the recent pollution, I just fling in a new paper filter tomorrow :) 40p or so
your comment in brackets makes no sense btw;)

I have been using cheap paper filters for years with no problems. A new one is cheaper than the K & N cleaning kit. K & N are a waste of time.

I'm doing some LPG work on a 3.9v8 Disco which has a new K+N filter fitted - what a pile of ****e ! If you hold it up to daylight you can see straight through it. Just as well stick a pair of stockings in there for all the good thats going to be as a filter. And right now the car is covered in that fine African dust that everything else is.... Nowt wrong with the original paper one.

Correct more airflow means a more permeable filter medium. The oil is there to trap dirt, they soon clog in extreme conditions because of that. Waste of bloody time, designer crap for use by people who are easily conned by spin.

But they come in lots of bright pink, purple colours! That alone must add at least 10hp :D

Or a much larger surface area. Guess which has the biggest surface area, paper or K&N:rolleyes:
