Just purchased td4.some tips pls.

Just purchased an 03 td4. It's a uk import and its been here about 4 years now. It has no service history and it's done 91k. I'd like to give it a good service what else apart from the usuals should be checked? And when would the timing belt have been changed if it has?
What brand of oil do you guys recommend.

Driving back yesterday i felt a delay in power when pressing the gas normal? Or do i just need to get used to it, i do drive a powerful car normally so could be just me. Also felt a slight clung when changing gear coming from the back.

I maybe just paranoid since i just got it but been after one for quite a while and since most over here are the petrol versions i was quite happy a td4 came along and in a nice black colour )

EGR bypass is well doing, lots of info on here. Also worth cleaning the inlet manifold out once the EGR has been bypassed.
Change the engine breather for the BMW one.
Last oil change I used fully synthetic Castrol edge because it was on special offer.

EGR bypass has made a fair bit of difference to mine. Mpg and driving wise.

I bought an alisport one off eBay. Easy to fit. Proper sludge in the inlet side...

do a full service that includes all filters turbo vent air and oil and if you want filter in side the car use a good oil your clunk is probably the diff mounting usually front one use a good deisle like shell make sure your tyres match always fit newer ones to the back and all should be well i have owned my td4 auto for 8 years now and would not part with it

Hesitation in acceleration could be a faulty MAF, try disconnecting and see if the fault clears (engine runs on ECU preset values when MAF disconnected)

For service, I would change everything. Oil, air, fuel, pollon, get the BMW part to replace the crankcase filter.

Blank the egr and replace the hoses for silicone ones.

I would also get the brakes checked as well, just incase something is worn or sticking.
Run on good diesel and maybe run a few tanks with injector cleaner as well.

What sizes and makes are the tyres? It's best to keep all the same make and the best ones go on the rear.

Wow cheers guys, great info. Fuel we only have one choice in Malta and its meadeocre at that so ill give it a few tanks with cleaner after i do all the service. Tyres are good michelin ones so thats ok even though our roads are a bit like driving offroad all the time. Gave her a thourough clean today and shes lookin good now just to book the service and see what they come up with, anyone recommend a good parts supplier in the uk ? Just in case.

Ok, if the fuels crap then add 300ml of 2 stroke oil to each tank. There's a thread on here, maybe a page or 2 back with all the info you need.

This will help the mpg and engine running.
