Hello landymens

I am about to join your gang...............................

Just got my muckies on this beautiful 1958 series 2 109 - totally original - car has very interesting history.

It has done over 50000 miles so could never be described as a trailer queen and is still in use today.

She even has the original elephant hide gaitors on the rear door

Talk about love at first sight!!!!!!

will post some more details when appropriate - seller is quite a private person but enjoy this beautiful old girl.

The significance of the structure on the back will be explained in due course

That looks mint, you jammy git!

Right time right place - also got the oldest-known series 3(chassis number 9) as part of the deal.

That one was not in pristine body condition - and was only 90% original paint - but drove like a new car.

It has gone to my series-3 addicted friend in germany now.

very nice i must say ,,plz tell the story
how much did it cost ,if you dont mind ?

I got the car as part of a package deal of several interesting vehicles from a collector who is downsizing so did not pay a specific price as such.

However we had it valued for insurance puposes and both Historic LR specialists have put a value on it of 30-35k.

It is mesmerisingly beautiful in the flesh - I think it is the colour and the patina that does it.

Very nice

Can any one explain the roof to me, Ive not seen one like that

And yank V8s are only allowed in the back in crates :D

I was thinking safari but then the cab is enclosed which seems odd. There is a metal box on what looks like a wooden roof. The metal box looks too slim to be an air conditioner so perhaps bearing in mind the tripods etc is it maybe a platform or a very slimline equipment locker.

maybe the cab being enclosed adds support for the roof those back struts don't look adequate if you have a lot on the roof or people with a tv camera

or is the front thing just a hole so people can stand up and look out of the top?

It was built for filming from new - wildlife
Motor racing - anything that moves basically

The hatch is for the cameraman to stand up
There are Lots of tripod mounts on the roof.

Hope this answers all questions about its use.
