My 54 plate K series Freelander has started developing a nasty vibration when under load at certain speeds. It only really happens over 50mph when under load. It doesn't happen when coasting, or under load at slower speeds (eg at 30 mph on a steep climb).

I've looked at a few similar threads on here and the likely culprits seem to be the inner CV joints or the VCU, but I'm not sure if the symptoms are exactly the same as those mentioned.

Car has done about 73k miles. VCU doesn't look to have been replaced.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

JP

Welcome to the forum.

Test the vcu with the one wheel up test below if you don't know it's condition.

Oh, and ignore the tratterers and their stooopid comments. They'll be along soon.

I would put my money on the front cv joint on the propshaft.
Either get hold of prop and see if you get any play in the joint, if so then drop prop off and take for a test.
