Hi all, I have been looking for a replacement automatic gearbox drain plug for a Freelander 1 ( 24 mm ) but have been unable to find one anywhere. The present one would not budge mainly because the plug does not have enough surface area for a socket to grip it and also because it has been in place for 17 years probably. My local garage managed to free it by welding a large nut to it and using a long bar. The fluid has been drained and the plug is back in place with the large nut still welded to it. I,m going to drain it again because I don,t think it has ever been done before and the fluid that was drained out didn,t look too healthy. It would be nice to fit a new plug but nobody sells them it seems. Any ideas ?

Hi and welcome
What's wrong with what you've got?
There must be scrappers out there, broken gearboxes etc
I think this Freelander needs a few new parts, not more old parts. The dealer saw me coming so now I,m catching up on " no service history " and 9 previous owners.
