hi, i've got a galvanised chassis on my 300TDi and I didnt have a jack when I first got it but now i have one, but it won't fit in the rear jacking point thing, but will fit in the front. Will this be due to the galvanising making the hole smaller?
Is there any way to get round this? apart from maybe making the jack pole thinner? as I dont want to take the galvanising coating off the chassis!

Yes and No if you dont want to clear the galvy from the jacking tube.
Personally I dont jack my motor using the provided holes.
I use a bottle jack under the axle as it needs far less lifting to get a wheel off the ground.

I got a 20T sealey bottle jack and 3T stands for £25 in one of their special deals. A massive over kill but they were at the right price.

Got my mechanical screw type bottle jack off a Nissan Cabstar at my local breakers. £5 20 years ago and still looks and works like new. It has a yoke that fits Landrover axles perfectly. No hydraulics to leak out when on its side and it dont slowly let itself down if the seals leak.

I have a high lift (farm) jack but not for wheel changing etc. Mainly gets used for other stuff around the garden and in my shed.

Bottle jack is a good shout, its small and easy to store in the cabin and much quicker to use if placed under axle etc making it ideal for changing wheels etc on the move. If using at home buy a trolley jack, they are worth the money having one.

The standard jack takes a ridiculously long time to get the wheels off the ground as it has to take all the slack out of the suspension before it lifts anything off the floor. If I need to lift the chassis/body for any reason I will use the trolley jack back home.

Ive got a bottle jack for wheel changing, side of the road stuff, got it form machine mart, and it fits in the box under the drivers seat.

I've got the original bottle jack that fits behind the head light under the bonnet, so much more convenient than lugging around a trolly jack

I have the same type. I've not had it wobble or fall off the axle and on the chassis it is fine. I can't say I've used it at the side of the road though, just at home for the minute with axle stands.

(The 6 tonne draper on amazon seems a better buy btw, looks like a higher lift too).
