Now this I would choose over a Disco or Defender every time...apart from being a left hooker it's perfect!

looks like a pile of green shog dit

I spent the best days of my childhood in these...would choose one over a Ferrari...saying that I've never desired a Ferrari anyway!

That is actually the very last Series 3 to come off the production line in 1985...pity it wasn't built for this country...

Mind you, both series 3 88s I've had (both 2 1/4 petrol), drank fuel, were slow as feck, were nightmares to park, gave you ringing ears from the whiney engines, and rattled your bones. They still had ten times the charm of the defenders, discos, RR classics, and L322s I've driven.

Ha ha they aren't the most comfortable of vehicles but they just have something special... I've been on the front wing of one of those when another broke down at a grouse shoot...we had the inside packed full of beaters (and I mean packed not seated) and the roof and bonnet stacked with anyone else who couldn't get inside...only in a Landy!

I'm in! it is a true beauty ... I only wish .. it was LHD (oh it is!!!) and available at my doorstep :D

I wonder if this image was taken when it was new being the last one or if some lucky sod has it completely restored...

Strange thing is it's a left hooker but it is a UK plate...odd..!

Sounds like mine too .. ;)

Loved it, I could even wave at people through the door with the windows still shut, the door tops were that bad!

Taught me a lot that thing did ..

I thought that was deep bronze green? The green is my favourite anyway. I'm not a fan of blue, but the cream ones look fantastic with safari roof etc.

When looking for a series 3, I found a very similar series 2/3 hybrid about half a mile up the road from me. Couldn't believe my luck. The guy selling had a series 1 and a disco, and was a true gentleman. Said he would leave it unlocked and we could take a mechanic around any time day or night to have a good look over it.

He had just rebuilt it, and it was green like the one pictures, but had series 2a lights, wings, and dashboard, series 3 ex military engine, great chassis, and tidy interior. tax free too. It was everything I was looking for, but unfortunately, it sold a few days later, in the ebay mad rush, for about 200 quid higher than what I could afford. In hindsight I wish I had gone for it and bid that bit higher but you live and learn.

Anyway, a week or two later, I got myself a tidy series 3 88 hard top, which had to collect from N Yorkshire, and 2 weeks later sold it on as it wasn't what I was after.

I'll keep looking out for a 109 SW and one day I will fulfil that dream lol
