had my W reg 1.8 now for 2 and half years, covered 25k in her and the only thing thats gone wrong is the sunroof mechanism breaking, but i have air con so who wants a sunroof anyway. when i got her i bit the bullit and had the engine pulled apart and all the new type head gasket and stuff fitted(after knocking a fair bit off the purchase price).most of the 25k has been done by my missus who drives it like she stole it and it's still working so i'm pretty pleased with it:)

However now have bad wear on rear tyres due to another design fault with rear diff!!!!

Have you got the newest tyres (with deepest tread) on the rear axle?? If not they will wear rapidly. I had an original diff (early type) on my vehicle for 111,000 and no issues with tyre wear. I only changed to a later one due to noise, which was a wheel bearing and not the diff!!

Hello , i recently posted on here saying we've had various problems with our freelander, 5 weeks into having the car the following have been fixed :-

Non starting - Cam shaft sensor
Knocking noise @ front - Loose steering rack
Whining Noise at back - Rear Diff
plus little other things like clock display , cd player, air con

i read alot of the posts on this site and it is a great site, especially when u are in need of some great advice !!

but are all forums just about problems ?? surely there must be Freelander owners out there who are happy with their car !! so many people say they always go wrong.....but how come there are so many on the road ???

In my country we have a Land Rover forum that is not only complaining what is wrong and that LR's are BAD and that Freelander is the worst car in the world.

page: KLUB LAND ROVER SLOVENIJA
forum: forum.landrover-klub.si

But the language is a bit ... different as english

I have a Freelander V6 and because of mine bad knowlage of Freelanders when I bought it bring it to problems and because of untrust to garage which had it before for service I blow my engine.

It was expensive (around 4000 GBP) but now it is runing without problems.

Big problem of Freelanders is that they are considered to be so good on terain as their BIG brothers (Disco, Def, Range) and also used as them but they are just entry models to start and to get basic knowlage about driving off-road and to get knowlage about safety driving off-road.

Plus they have a lot of good sides for towing, to have fun and to go to places that you would not go usualy with your family car.

Regards!
Lovro

Go on any forum , and you get the moaners, their car is playing up and blame the whole of earth, OK the petrols were a disaster i admit , but then dig deeper at other 4x4's and they also have quirks . . . .you can get a lot of good advice on this ear forum, if you can ride through the banter. . . . .but the gaylander is still the best 4x4 in its class , so stop moanin or Mrs ming will take revenge, un you wouldn't like that. . . .:D :D ;)

In answer to the title of this thread I can say; YES.

I can also understand the reaction of tractor and other boys. Since they are also driving a LR model, and if it is giving as much pleasure as the FL does to me, it is perfectly normal they think their's are the best, which they aren't. They are AS GOOD.;)

Just realised I already posted in ere...really must have been wasted that night (10am think it says???WTF)

Anyway gotta say dead happy with mine...goes like the proverbial **** off shovel, costs me next to nuthin to run, (equivalent to 40+MPG @ doozle prices) Goes anywhere a standard 90 will go..0-60 in approx 8-9secs (fully loaded)...cruise in comfort around a ton... :D
