Hi All

Just bought a Freelander for my wife with the V6 engine and auto box.

I've been away from Landys for a while and this car has a great history except for a Viscous coupling change. It's done 79k and doesn't show any symptoms of the problem. However, I am having it changed next week as a 'service; item to avoid any issues.

I've been advised to have the IRD fluid drained and refilled at the same time as I think that this is only ever checked and not changed as part of the service history. If this is correct would you all advise the fluid change at the same time as the VC being done.

Cheers

I personally would, as said on previous post can only do good, but mainly for me having a look at the drained out oil may give an indication on the general condition of ird, ie if the oil has a metallic effect it could be an indication of bearing/splin/teeth wear

Oil change all round is a good idea, engine, gearbox (read instructions!), ird and rear did. Dont just change the VCU test it first it could still be fine, auto seem to last longer and my VCU lasted longer
