Hello,
I have a 1996 4.6 HSE and I cant get the interior lights to turn off, tried just about everything I know, but now I am stuck, I have removed fuse number 15 from underneath the drivers seat, this does turn off the top interior lights but not the lower courtesy lights, so have now removed the bulbs. The only light left on is the green ignition light where you put your ignition key in, also removed the bulb from the tailgate, I have pushed the centre button on the front overhead intererior lamp so that the interior lights are off...but they are still on, I have no warning messages and have opened all the doors one at a time to check that the suspension does not rise when a door is open, or the tailgate, everything seems fine, the car does rise if the bonnet is open, I dont know if that is ok or not, central locking works as does superlocking, to make matters worse I am not at home in the UK, I am in Sweden and my nearest dealership is about 500 miles away in Stockholm, I have just phoned my local dealer in Milton Keynes and they cannot offer any help as the mechanics cant really say what the problem might be without seeing the car, I have had my rangie for about a year now with no real problems, It hasnt done many miles, 60k, and all work has been done by RR, electrics are not my forte so if anyone could offer any assistance it would be very much appreciated, Im thinking either door locks or maybe the main computer under the drivers seat, the only other thing that I can recolect is that the indicators for the alarm stopped working a few weeks ago, but the red led on the dahboard is still flashing normally when locked.
thanks,
Ian.

Hi,
I have managed to fix the interior light problem mentioned in my earlier post, however if anybody knows why my indicators wont flash when the alarm is set, please let me know.
regards,
Ian.

Hi
I would be interested to know how you fixed the light problem as i have a problem with 1 light behind passenger high level that will only come on via the switch and not the doors. As the car does not appear to have switches on the door shuts, as my RR classic, your answer might help me find out where to start looking.
Thanks Craig

Hi, I suspected that the fault might lie within the electronic box that lies beneath the drivers seat, as I could not find any fault with any of the doors, I suspected that this box is full of small relays or switches and that one had stuck in the on position, I quickly disconected the negative terminal on the battery, the alarm went off straight away, and reconected the terminal, the interior lights work perfectly now, from my personal experience with the doors on my p38, I can tell you that there are 2 micro switches in each front door lock, I dont know about the rear doors, as I have had no need to remove the trim and examine the locks, It might be that on your car, or it might not, sorry to be so vague but as i stated earlier, electrics is not my forte, however I am sure someone on here will know exactly what the problem is and let you know.
Good luck,
regards,
Ian.
