I have seen some references to cheap "Classic" insurance on here in the past and am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction.
I have just had my Third party 3,000 mile limited insurance renewal from Sureterm for my standard 1978 series 3 109.
They are telling me it is a cracking deal at £178-07.

I must be one of the most straightforward old f***s for insurance having driven for 34 years and never made a claim.
I only pay £140 for fully comp on my 2002 Discovery.

Any advice gratefuly received!

The Disco is insured with Churchill.

i'd expect to pay about 80 - 100 a year fully comp for a series based on what mine cost, i have multi vehicle cover with Lancaster who are sensibly priced although they did try ripping me off recently when i added a big Renault van to the policy - that's now done via DL

it pays to haggle these days, tell them you've been offered a MUCH cheaper deal elsewhere and will be giving them the business unless they can drastically improve their quote - and i bet they do improve it

I agree, insured the mother in law with Lancaster for her mini and it was £99 quid fully comp inc breakdown.

I,ll get on to Lancaster and Frank Pickles and see what they come up with. Thanks everyone.

Wierd. I've just moved to sureterm with my 1977 109 as they were the cheapest at 84 quid fully comp. I found the so called landy specialists to be expensive while not really offering anything that I wouldn't get from an "ordinary " company.

re-insured my crotch rocket today. pays to always trade them off

Got to agree with Lancaster... Being young (ish), with the odd points, some accident (thanks to a ****ing retarded bmw driver who needs shooting in the head) it was still only £240 full comp for my S2a - compared to the £600 ish my Mondeo costs me £240 seemed quite a bargain really :)

just done online quote at Lancaster. £142-00
Better but still not as good as you guys seem to be getting.
I shall try ringing them and haggle.

Mines with Carol Nash on their classic car policy, I have two with them, my landy £115.00 fully comp and my 1953 Armstrong Siddeley, £110.00 including wedding hire !

Lancaster rang me!
They were sure that they could better their quote. They gave me a reference and passed me through to their expert.
I waited for my turn and then was told that the reference didn't mean anything.
I explained what I was after but was told that they may be able to knock five or six pounds off but not the forty that I was looking for.
What am I doing wrong??
I will try Carol Nash and Frank Pickles tomorrow.
Is there anything that would be adding to the cost?
I have three seats in front and two benches in the back, I said there are eight seats could this cause a problem?

Itried Churchill And they quoted £154.
I told them that I only pay £140 fully comp on my discovery unlimited mileage, so why should I pay £154 for third party on a vehicle worth one tenth of the price with limited mileage.
The answer................................................Parts for older cars are a lot more expensive.
At this point I thanked the man and hung up.
I then tried Carol Nash as suggested and was given a price of £105 fully comp and with roadside assistance thrown in.
I paid my money and thanked the lady.
I would like to thank you all for your help on this one.:)

I am with Adrian Flux. I pay £124 fully comp on my series landie. Includes windscreen cover. I would quite like to call autoglass to fit a windscreen on the Series, bet that would throw them!
