Hi guys,

My front grab handles on either side are worn down to the black plastic, they are the goldish coloured handles.

Does anyone know where is the best place to buy replacement ones or are they easy to removed so that thry can be repainted? ?

I would also like to do the matching trim pieces at each side of stereo as a couple of small scratches let it down?

Thanks

Easy to remove they just clip off!:D re-painted mine in cream to match interior, rubbed them down with fine grade emery paper then cleaned with acetone, plastic primer coating then finished off with top coat of plasticoat paint.Well pleased with the results. Ps just for info the pass side one is about a tenner to buy but the drivers side one is twice the price.cost me about a fiver all in.

Did mine a couple of years ago , inc the grab handle trims , using vauxhall platnuim spray paint from halfrauds which i found to be a good match and has been hard wearing , i used masking tape and paper to protect the black parts of the stereo trim etc , i take it you have facelift model :)

Yeah I have facelift model, just bought it about 5 weeks ago and the grab handles are the only thing that lets interior down.

My 3 door doesn't have grab handles it this normal..

can I fit a set.??.for when the wife is scared of my driving or vice a versa

I did this to mine when I got it, halfrods do a colour called "Vauxhall Platinum" that is an exact match. If you want to do a really thorough job follow these steps:

- Put masking tape around a flathead screwdrivers tip
- Gently prize the handle off by lifting it up at both ends with the screwdriver
- Once it's off, get some 1500 grit wet and dry paper, wet it with warm water and rub it down to black.
- Smooth it off with wet 2000 grit.
- When dry give it a coat of Halfords plastic primer
- Then give it 3 to four very light coats of the platinum colour, leave for an hour between coats.

Halfords spray cans are very lively, you should hold the can at least 30cm from the object and spray in short sweeping burts. Don't try to get a solid colour in one coat, it will look god awful and wear far more easily.

That should sort it right out, mine look good as new now :).

Will.

Thanks for info on how to do that mate, seems pretty easy.
I took my freelander along to my friends car bodyshop repair unit and he reckons that it needs a lacquer over the actual paint with a matting agent mixed in will give grab handles proper long term protection and the proper finish.

We colour matched them to Peugeot kvc h5 OR BLANC METALLIC, it looks the exact colour as mines are kind of off silver/slight champagne tint.

Ian how did you mound your satnav bracket to the dash like that mate :)?
Hello there , easy , remove the two cup holders , remove the single screw that retains the holder assmbley , the screw is in the bottom centre , the full part then lifts out with care , I then removed the suction parts from the sat nav bracket , drilled a small hole in the centre of it , also put a hole in the centre of the holder assmbley , using a small nut and bolt , fixed the bracket to the holder , then put it all back in place . I have a spare bracket so i can still use my sat nav in another motor

Nice tip I'll try that if I decide against a double DIN setup :).
