Here's another insane Land Rover rip off.
My Freelander is still in the garage after having it's head gaskets replaced. I would have it back by now BUT an injector "O" ring is leaking fuel. Just take the old "O" ring off and replace it with a quality Land Rover one right? Yeah, if only Land Rover supplied JUST the "O" ring. They don't! You have to buy the complete injector rail with injectors and "O" rings. Around the £400 mark. The garage is trying to source a replacement for me. I hope they find one
Maybe the garage is ripping me off? I suspect they're not being totally honest as they've now had the car 2 weeks

As if there exist no specialised shops where one can get O rings in all sizes and made of all materials ?? (And a garage of all places should be aware of this kind of shops, IMO at least ??)

Willo, I thought that too. A garage should be able to source O rings for any occasion. I hope they can anyway ;)

Hi mark,

Hope it for you too. Good luck with it. (O rings exist in rubber, copper, klingerite etc... tell them they can choose whatever they want as long as it fits and does the job and costs you the least possible. Tell them I am not going to come over and buy me a RangeRover 4.8Compressor at their place if they stay acting like this .....:D

Just spoken to Land Rover about the said injector "O" ring. Apparently each injector has 3 "O" rings and YOU CAN buy them seperatley.
I suspect the garage where my Freelander is having the head gaskets changed is fobbing me off. This makes me cross!

Order the replacement yourself and tell the garage who have your car that you are sourcing the replacement unit yourself, then turn up with just the 'O' ring kit from L/R and damand an explanation, as it sounds like they are trying to yank you pants even further down.

X Number of ££££'s for the head work he wont mind about another £400 for and injector system that isnt needed and probably wont be supplied.

Zippy

I would pursue this Mark, i cannot believe garages still try this crap, some mechanics at some main dealers just have no interest or pride in their work, and look for the easiest solution..........your wallet.

Name 'em & shame 'em.

Spoke to the garage in question this morning and they have a selection of "O" rings now. I refuse to beleive it takes a whole day to fit them though. All the engine needs are these O rings fitting and she's good to go. The Hippo will be ready tomorrow. Why the f**k not today? They've had it over 2 weeks now
Mark is angry, want the Hippo back so something else can go wrong!

It will be ready tommorow and not today because they don't care when you get it back, its just another faceless piece of metal to them.;)

If only ready tomorrow they can count another 8 hours of labour, in the mass of labour hours during the past 2 weeks it can easily be fitted in.
That will teach you well, dare to think or to say they are cheating bastards...
