Indicators not working - hazards are!!

Hi folks,

Quick question if I may.
A friend has a 1997 discovery 1 300tdi. His indicators are not working on the vehicle. The hazard light switch works, and all of the indicators flash when this is pressed, but the indicators do not come on individually when you use the stalk by the wheel.
The headlights (which do use the same stalk) are working fine. The stalk has been replaced, and so has a relay that is attached to the fuse box which he thought was for the indicators, but this has made no difference.

Need to go and get my multimeter and have a look later, but is there anything obvious to look for?

I would start with the wiring known or thought to have been disturbed previously.

You say the lighting stalk has been changed, so that would be the first place to check.
