Hello I wonder if anyone can confirm my thinking, when I use my indicators left or right the dash light doesn’t always flash, the outside indicators all work but the display light doesn’t always.

Got the same fault on mine.I found its the flasher unit that is located underneath the steering wheel to the left and behind the fuse box there.Check connections. If ok you can remove the unit easily and the actual working bit slides out of the housing so you can check it.

There are two main circuits in the indicator relay one to look after the external lamps and the other the tell tel lamp in the dash, thats the one thats failed, therefore a replacement relay is required.
Get the the correct relay as some have a third circuit that looks after trailer lamps.

The relay is pluged into the front of the fuse box on a 300 series disco so easy to change.

I had the binnacle to bit’s this afternoon checked bulb as suggested all ok there, so as discool has suggested a new relay will be installed mine has 5 spades, as you say two circuits , one is working other is not. Thank you for your help I will report back once I have new relay in.

Thank you discool you were spot on with your answer, I removed relay and gave the whole thing a good scrub inside and out, gave it a bath in the trusty wd40 and cleaned the contacts with an artist’s brush, installed it back this morning and all working fine again, but I will get a replacement anyway. Thanks again.

Sometimes I get a little trailer light up on the dash...........and sometimes, I don't! :D

;)
ever since I`ve had my disco 1 its done that too,
its just the one flash when the other light flashes for indicators.
puzzled me at first,
now 1000`s of flashes later, I got used to seeing it.
my trailor lights all work as they should, plus I reguarly lift the socket cover and give it a blast of WD40 to keep it clean inside.

I would imagine its only supposed to come on when you've got something plugged into the towing socket. I'm going to have mine to bits and give it a good clean, see what happens.

My trailer light does the same, one flash when the indicators are first switched on.

Its done it on a couple of my discos now so presume its normal.
