Hi - I'm a newbie to the forum and Land Rovers (1st personal car - always had crappie company cars)

I bought a 300Tdi which has a Sterling Thatcham immobiliser fitted, the one which requires a fob. This is all working fine (and I have a spare fob) but I realised I don't have the emergency pin code, which can be used to start the car by just using the key in the ignition and following a standard procedure. Not knowing the pin code doesn't bother me, however my question is, if I was to disconnect the battery for whatever reason would this in anyway affect the immobiliser? Would I need the pin code to reset it or will the immobiliser continue to work with the fob after the battery has been reconnected?

Thanks

Thanks from the reply livers.

Seriously, does disconnecting the battery reset the immobiliser, thus requiring the code because if it does what would happen if the battery was flat or needed changing?

Hmmn, best thing to advise is to try it. If unsucessful, you can start a new thread:

"I disconnected my battery and now my 300tdi won't start"

good luck though.

I had the same device retro-fitted to my RRC six years ago & during that time the battery has been disconnected a number of times, never caused a problem.
I'm not aware of any emergency starting procedure, it's not shown in my instruction booklet.

Not the same as yours, but I had a Thatcham cat 1 fitted to my Defender two years ago. Since then I have had the battery out a few times to do electrical work and it has never needed any resetting afterwards.
