I have a 1998 Disco V8 auto which has an additional Land Rover Engine Immobiliser using a Green fob and Gold Fob. The car has been standing for the best part of a year and now that I want to get it running again, there is no response from the Additional immobiliser. The instructions say to hold the Green fob above the steering column cowl until I hear 2 bleeps but of course nothing happens. Anyone have any idea on how to bring it back to life? I obviously have no feed to the starter or the fuel pump. Thanks for any help.

Worth checking your earths if it's been standing for a bit. In addition a local garage may have a device to check your fobs are working.....well, my local one did, I just went in and pointed my fobs at it and it told me it was working

Good luck

Thanks for the replies. The standard remote fob is working fine but this is another LandRover Immobiliser above the remote one fitted by LandRover whereby you have to hold the key above the steering cowl for a few seconds but there is no response from it. May have to remove it and just keep the Standard remote one.

Can you find no paperwork for the additional ? Online ? If its a 98 Rover product I would imagine its common to the Rover group so that widens your search parameters....call a main dealer , even ? They do occasionally help for nothing...VERY occasionally ....or local indy LR or Rover places would probably tell you something

I found the Land Rover fitting guide, so tomorrow I will strip out the interior and have a look see what is going on. Hopefully it is a supply fault and I won't have to remove it all. There has been a right butcher under the bonnet and I don't mean me!

Right, I found the little sod that was causing the problem and it is an updated spider that comes in a round steel tube, mounted where the old one was. I cut it open and the circuit board looked burnt. I got it to acknowledge the key fobs but it still would not energise all the circuits so I put a hammer through it. It was no good anyway, so I put it out of it's misery. Now then, I assume that the spider bypass kit works on the V8 model. Anyone know for sure? Also, there is a little alarm siren mounted on my off inner wing. Every time I connect it, it just goes off. Is this re-programmable in any way?
Thanks for any help.
