Hi folks,
I have these 3 flasher units behind my dash, can any one id them please .
Front end partly assembled ,front wiring only,
Every thing was working until there was a little spark then the indicators stopped working;.fuses still ok IMG_2118.JPG IMG_2117.JPG IMG_2116.JPG
It happened when I was repositioning the fuse box (forgot to disconnect the battery)
There is a trailer connection on the tub (not tested) and hazard light fitted (still working)
cheers Peter.

Is the first one not the voltage stabiliser for the guages? It's usually attached to the back of one of the dials.

Hi
The first one was behind the auxilary dash bolted next to the hazard warning switch.
This is behind the speedo

First pic is the voltage stabaliser for the fuel/water guages...
Are you sure about that? Google seems to think a Lucas 6RA is a relay. But not a flasher unit, anyway. Might be part of the brake failure warning system?

The others are definitely flasher units, though. '552' seems to be a fairly common 2-terminal unit. The other one has the specs on it so should be pretty easy to find a suitable equivalent on ebay (ie. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251219595312 ). Do you know why you have 2 units? Is one for the trailer socket?

You may notice on the back of the speedo some exposed copper. A previous owner had been feeding off various cables behind the dash and just cut them off later. I thought the stabaliser was the small unit behind the speedo.

You're right, it is. I imagine the 1st picture is a hazard relay, given the proximity to the hazard switch.

Are both of the cylindrical flasher units wired up?

Try identifying the purpose by checking the lucas wire colour chart.

Might be part of the brake failure warning system

Some late-model Series 3 have a brake failure warning light in the centre panel next to the hazard switch. In this case, there's generally a relay included to show that the light is working.
The idea is that the relay is connected to the feed to the starter motor (white/red wire) so the light comes on when you crank the engine.
Does your relay have white/red, black and black/white wires as per diagram below?

Hi although nothing is connected yet, there is a hazard warning, fog lamp, brake failure switch, and holes where other unknown things were fitted.

All dash wiring is back and all electrics that we have fitted to the front end work.
I seperated the auxilary panel and fitted a wider plate for any extra instuments that may be fitted.
The fuse box and flasher units now come out temporaly to the left of this panel,

we haven't decided their final location. Plenty of time for that.
