picked up a freelander 1.8 5 door last night for the mrs as her disco is a crock of rubbish.

Id forgotten how good they are! its quite, quite nippy, cruises down the motorway, reasonable on fuel, comfy.... what more could I ask!

And it doesnt even use any coolant after 200 miles!

Sweet

haha cheeky bleeder

im quite surprised how tidy this freelander is... its actually mint! ( i managed to buy a half tidy vehicle!!!)

£600 bargin

Put yer welder in the disco when yer sell it. Tell the buyer it's an option most disco's had from new, along with a spare wheel...

Nice ter see yer back Freelandering again.

we have been trying to say this to the tratter boys for years

Ohhhh I found its first problem.

The wee expansion bottle cap hadn't been changed and I could hear it passing a bit of pressure.

I had a new one on the shelf from previous k series vehicles so bish bash on its gone and quiet again. ;)

that is one fault I always have to make sure the wife's freelander is ok for water each week as you should and some times I do not tighten the cap enough.

Nah id fixed it but then flogged it. It had the wrong gearbox and cruising at 80 mph was revving it's pants off!

Well the 1.8 did a good journey up to cupar last night. 260 miles and didn't lose a drop of coolant.

It did lose oil though. Seems to be leaking either around the thread or through the body of the oil pressure switch.

Other little niggle is it doesn't seem as fast as our old 1.8 and it's got a slight misfire at idle. I'll give it some new plugs and he leads which should help. Previous owner ran it on a budget so I think it needs one.

Oh other minor issue. The fuel gauge lies. Go round a corner and it plunges down. I think the floats probably failed on the sender as it does go back up after a time.

I replaced the coil packs on mine after already doing plugs and leads. Made a big difference so even though it was running they must have been past their best.

Cam seals have a habit of loosing oil too.
