Hi Guys,

Right.....sorted..ish...

Turns out it was the wrong nuts....got to 50mph and I thought the car was gonna fall apart!!

Anyway 130quid later all balanced and new nuts and all goodish.

Next step was new front shocks - easy

New drag link assembly - done (Thanks to Clarky!!)

Next is tracking time..... i'm thinking i need to reset the steering box? is this right?

Cheers!

Ouch glad your nuts are sorted now.

Any way your wheels....

Probably best just to do the steering box as Clarky did with his it will make all the difference.

Tracking - only if your old wheels had uneven wear or if the vehicle pulls in anyway. Otherwise matey boy with his lasers can actually do more harm than good as I found with mine...braking and bending all sorts of rods and ended up with a steering wheel that was arse about tit.

Found a specialist.....

He reckons the wheels I bought don't work on the car properly.....thought he was mad.....tried his crusty 16's! Wow! What a difference!

Anyways, back on the 18's good tyres back on the front, all seems a little better.

Thinking now the Britpart shocks weren't the best bet! Ride is bumpy!!

What's the oem make? And where is good to get them? Thinking I might just do it.....hope get some cash back for the others on eBay??

Tracking wants needed, just a tweak of the dragline to straighten the steering wheel up.

Anyways, more major issues next.... O-Rings and what looks like new HEVAC Controller and two blower motors!!

Then onto gearbox clunking. Then up for sale :) (keep ur eyes open in the for sake section) only going once mint, so I'll be asking top dollar.....

Boge are the OEM - at least on my year, and they're not expensive either - 20 quid or so from Island. Think Sachs were also OEM on some models / years?

If you need any help ref your blower motors, let me know. Passenger side one is a piece of wee-wee (glovebox can be a pain though), drivers side a bit more cluttered but WILL come out without any real dismantling.

Steering box - if you have a notable amount of free play in it (ie the wheel and everything up to the input shaft turns, but no output at the other side unitl you hit a certain point) its worth adjusting, doing mine made a big difference. My wheel had about +/- 1 inch of free play before the road wheels started moving.

If you made your new drag link exactly the same length as your old one, the steering box may not need re-centering - but thats a different issue to adjusting out the free play.

Dont mess about too much with HeVAC and blowers. Mine had the same both fans stopped working and i thought it was going to be expensive

Took them both out to replace but thought I'd just test them straight of a spare battery nothing.

Hoovered the intenals (alot of carbon dust) out and took the bushes out, hoovered the bush housing out and hey presto working again absolutely fine for 6 months and still going strong however did replace the bushes as they were worn when I looked at them and no problems since. If you have your blowers on constantly it might be worth replacing.

Key is both blowers stopped working so probably not the motors or fans, chance it might be HeVAC unit but if everything else works fine on it probably not. Test your blower relays and if they're working ok fuse board should be fine as it's not melted them - then remove and give it a good go with Henry and you should be on your way!

I couldn't figure how to get mine apart to try cleaning or renewing bushes. I had one motor that was good, but had a fried relay, and one that was bad with a good relay. Got a replacement from eBay for £20.
