My rear hub seal needs replacing, Ive looked at rave and assume its best to replace inner and out seals? are these seals a dealer part only?

do i have to regrease the bearings and will i loose diff oil when i strip em out? any tips or are they straight forward?

I just jacked up the offending side - so that the diff oil ran the other way, and yes - best to check and top up the bearing grease, while yu have the halfshaft out.

OMG inner seal £14.93 outter seal £3.30 paper gaskets £1.70 and £6.18 all plus vat, that cant be right can it?

how many seals does yours have???

Mine only has 1 seal... I think discos pre 93 have 2 seals on the hub, but anything after only has 1.
Mine has 1 seal, and I've done my mate wheel bearings and that only had 1 seal too..

I've bought a complete bearings kit (2 bearings, 1 oil seal, lockin washer and paper gasket) for £12 off ebay and they were Timken bearings.

If you going to change the oil seal I would buy the whole kit, you might find you'll need bearings too...and in that case you already have the stuff.
If you dont need....you'll keep them as spares.

I changed the left rear bearing a few ago and they were fooked.... and for the sake of 15 quid, I've ordered all other 3 and i'm going to replace all, needing or not. That way I know they are new as i dont know the last time they were done.

I've just done all of mine after one went f.u.b.a.r. I got bearing kits from rimmer bros at £10 each including two bearings, two seals, paper gasket, thick washer and locking washer. Mine only had the one seal (the smaller of the two iirc) mine's a '98 300tdi. HTH.

which hud seals are you changing 300or 200 300 only have 1 if its gone problel all the grease is nakerd so you will have to change it numpty

thought you would understand that as you sound a bit thick common sense tell you if you take hub apart you will have to change the grease numpty
